The Advanced Course:

Guiding Outdoor Rec Success with Business Knowledge

Walton College Executive Education recently concluded The Advanced Course: Guiding Outdoor Rec Success with Business Knowledge created to support small businesses in the outdoor industry. The Advanced Course was created for new, established, or aspiring businesses offering products and services related to spending time outside.

The Advanced Course offered a series of speaker sessions and a panelist event that provided the outdoor recreation industry curious the opportunity to connect and learn about the opportunities the Sam M. Walton School of Business offers in support of the outdoor rec industry.

The series consisted of four courses focusing on specific areas critical to success in the outdoor space: Entrepreneurial Accounting, Legal Matters, Leadership and Management and Building Your Brand. The courses were taught during the 2022 Spring semester and concluded at the end of April.

The Advanced Course kicked off with a panelist event featuring Kenny Williams moderating the discussion between local outdoor recreation experts: Danny Collins, Kelsey Ferguson, and Allyson de la Houssaye.

Instructors for the courses were Legal Matters – Angela Grayson, founder of Precipice IP, PLLC, Entrepreneurial Accounting –  Kris Allee, of the University of Arkansas and Leadership & Management – Alison Nail-Malone, award-winning Women’s Leadership Coach,

The final session, Building Your Brand featured Lindsay Ramsey of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC).
