Business leaders around the world are recognizing that embedding sustainability in their organizations is a strategic imperative, whether from a risk management perspective, a cost containment perspective, or from an innovation and revenue generation perspective. Sustainability as a strategic business issue reaffirms the relationships among business, society and the natural environment—business organizations function in an economy coevolving with planet and people—but emphasizes sustainability as a key platform for value creation. In this context, those organizations taking the lead in developing a more sustainable way of doing business position themselves to survive and thrive in the global marketplace.
Companies that are most skillful in embedding sustainability into their corporate culture reap the benefits in terms of innovation, new market opportunities, and employee engagement. These companies are also better equipped to address the environmental and social concerns of consumer markets, corporate customers, regulatory agencies, stakeholder activism, and the investment community.
This workshop aims to establish the business case for sustainability, highlight sustainability initiatives at some of the world’s leading companies, and explore basic principles and best practices for moving your organization forward and leveraging the benefits of sustainability. Whether through cutting costs, enhancing employee loyalty and reducing turnover, or developing new products and markets, these principles and practices ultimately insure the long-term viability (sustainability) of your organization. Enrollment is limited to 20 participants. The pilot program will be Friday, November 4, 2011, with a special introductory rate of $199. The program fee will be $499 in 2012.
