Certificate in RFID

Special Note on the Inaugural RFID Certification Course:

We are very pleased to be offering the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Certification Program for the first time and anticipate offering several sessions per year.  Special pricing is available for this inaugural session at $5,000 per person (regular pricing is $7,500 per person).  Please also note that the inaugural course is retail focused, but subsequent certification programs will cover other areas.

Overview

The RFID Certification Program is designed to enhance the skills of retail industry managers and executives by exposing them to the latest research and prominent experts in the RFID field. This intensive, four-day program equips participants with applicable knowledge in areas such as RFID use cases, logistics and supply chain, implementation best practices, and change management. Our program goes beyond the classroom to include hands-on lab demonstrations, instruction with major retailers currently implementing RFID technology, and time for networking with peers and industry leaders.

As the implementation of RFID technology comes to the fore, retail supplier enterprises with knowledgeable employees will have a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Professionals with RFID certification from the Sam M. Walton College of Business will be well equipped to manage RFID implementation and data analysis in their own organizations.

Building Your Business Case

A key component of the RFID Certification Program is the development of a feasible business case for RFID implementation in participants’ own organizations. By examining multiple industry use cases and consulting with program directors, participants will build a case for utilizing RFID technology that results in tangible returns for their company.

This capstone project is intended to enhance the experience of the program by providing a synthesis of the information presented as well as practical application of the concepts. Program directors will advise participants on an individual basis regarding the design and implementation of the business case.

Why Certification?

Certification ensures a minimum level of learning and synthesis of information by requiring application of knowledge to real workplace issues and problems. Additionally, those who have completed the program will be recognized as knowledgeable practitioners in the RFID industry, backed by credentials from an internationally respected, academic research center.

The RFID Certification Program is aimed at providing participants with exposure to industry leaders and the latest research in the RFID field as well as driving real business results in the sponsoring organization. Participants will:

  • Learn from internationally recognized experts in the RFID industry
  • Gain exposure to leading practitioners in the retail, supply chain, and technology fields
  • Develop a business case for strategic RFID implementation in their own organization
  • Deepen understanding of the contribution of RFID to total cost reduction in the supply chain and other process improvements
  • Examine real use case scenarios and best practices to avoid common pitfalls in implementation

This program is designed for executives and others who are or will become responsible for RFID implementation or outcomes in their organization. You will benefit from this program if you are a:

  • Supply chain manager
  • Retail supplier or manufacturer
  • Technology vendor
  • Carrier or logistics manager
  • Manager or executive with strategic oversight of RFID technology

The RFID Certification Program utilizes instructors from both academia and industry.  Blending these perspectives will give participants not only the latest research insights, but also practical, hands-on expertise in the industry.
