Combating the Workplace Effects of Intimate Partner Violence
David Williams
Detective, Fayetteville Police Department
David Williams is a detective with the Fayetteville Police Department, currently assigned to the Special Investigations Unit. Members of this unit focus on crimes involving violence in the home, crimes against children, and sexual predator-related crimes. The unit also takes a leadership role in dealing with persons suffering from mental illness who have come to law enforcement’s attention.
Detective Williams helped develop the protocols and procedures related to investigating domestic violence crimes within the department, and he has developed training programs within the department and on a regional level to better equip officers in handling domestic violence cases and cases involving mentally ill subjects. He currently serves on the board of directors with the Northwest Arkansas Crisis Center. He also serves in an advisory capacity with the Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence and for a state House of Representatives committee on domestic violence (Representative Creekmore, Chair). In his off time he raises two teenage sons and writes.
